Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD)

LA DOTD

ILSI Engineering was the selected A/E consultant for the Amite River Relief Bridge Projects. This Contract included eight LADOTD bridges requiring replacement or rehabilitation and widening throughout southeast Louisiana. ILSI Engineering was the prime consultant who provided engineering and construction inspection services for bridge approaches and coordinated all phases of work with our sub-consultants for the design of four (4) bridge approaches. Plans, special provisions, estimates, and inspections were required in all projects.

ILSI Engineering developed the Right-of-Way maps for LADOTD, provided the required Title Research and Reports, and coordinated work with the Survey and Real Estate Sections.  ILSI Engineering perform hydraulic design calculations for the cross canals, culverts, and bridges, drainage areas and discharge calculations.  Design work included the development of detour plans, diversion roadways, approaches to temporary and permanent bridges, vertical and horizontal alignment, drainage maps, plan and profiles, construction signage and striping, sequence of construction, summary of quantities and cost estimates, cross-sections, preparation of special conditions, and incidentals.   Project required coordination with Bridge, Road Design, Hydraulics and Geotechnical Sections for two and four lane roadways under urban and rural conditions, and coordination with utilities.

The new bridges have spans of 20 to 40 feet and overall lengths from 60 to 320 feet. ILSI Engineering was required to analyze alternative designs between bridges and reinforced box culverts for LADOTD.  Hydraulic design calculations and inspections were performed for the following structures in this project:

    • Drain Creek Bridge on US-90 in Jefferson Parish
    • Grand Bayou Bridge on LA 20 in Lafourche Parish
