The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) retained ILSI Engineering to develop and provide technical assistance to the Chitimache Indian Tribe of Louisiana in the development of a storm water drainage and watershed plan.  The study area consisted of approximately 280 acres of property near the community of Charenton, St. Mary Parish, Louisiana.  The study identified potential development opportunities in collaboration with the Chitimache Tribal Development Office to ensure that the goals and visions of the Chitimache Tribe were considered.  These development opportunities were then master planned and considered in the drainage analysis that was then performed for the study area in order to provide a proposed design for the identified necessary drainage improvements.  The designed improvements consisted of drainage inlets, subsurface drainage improvements, reconstruction of roadways with curb and gutters, and the repair and relocations of utilities.  The estimated construction cost for the proposed improvements was approximately $1.5 MM.
